Writing the Short Story Sat, Aug 10 2019, 1:00 pm - Sat, Aug 10 2019, 3:00 pm

1/2 DAY WORKSHOP at the Creative Arts School at Old School Square.

In this workshop the instructor will discuss the essential devices needed to write a short story: setting, conflict, character, plot, theme, point of view, foreshadowing. Using his broad knowledge of the short story, the instructor will show class participants how to write a formidable short story. He will hand out examples of short stories that will help students develop their own style of writing. The class is open to anyone who has written a short story, are in the process of writing one, or have an idea for a short story. Participants should bring to the class material they have written so that the instructor and members of the class can critique it and offer meaningful feedback.
