As part of 2018 National Police Week, the public is invited to attend DBPD's annual memorial ceremony in honor of DBPD Officer John Kennedy and Sergeant Adam Rosenthal, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service to their community. Off. Kennedy, 32, was killed in an ambush by a gunman in August 1974 as he sat in his patrol car writing a report. He was survived by his then-expectant wife and five children. He had worked for DBPD for nine years. Sgt. Rosenthal, a married, 39-year-old father of four, died in a car crash on his way to work in February 2011. He was a 16-year veteran of the department.
